Our NRA Basic Pistol Course meets the requirements needed to apply for a CT Gun Permit. Upon successful completion of the basic pistol class you will receive an NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Certificate that you can bring to your local Police Department. This course is 8 hours long and includes all books, classroom and range time learning to shoot handguns as well as other specific topics. You will learn rules for safe gun handling; pistol parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; two handed standing position; cleaning the pistol; and continued opportunities for skill development. Upon completion, you will receive a course certificate after taking a basic Student Examination. You do not need to own or bring a handgun to attend this NRA class. All persons of less than 21 years of age may only take this course with their parent or with an adult guardian.
